The name Guigal is synonymous with great Rhone wines, this Viognier is rich and fragrant with apricot, peach and a powerful yet delicate nose and mouthfeel.

Guigal’s is one of the very best, and it’s easy to see why with this wine. Condrieu is the home of the Viognier grape, and this flavourful, rich, scented white creates a wine which is hard to replicate. With notes of apricot and peach with a powerful yet delicate nose and mouthfeel, this makes a great wine in its own right as well as an interesting food match.

TASTING NOTE: A light golden colour in the glass On the nose: Remarkably pure aromas of peach and apricot, plus white flowers and hints of spice. As it ages the colour deepens and the peach note gives way to the honeyed tones. On the palate: Full and rich with an unctuous texture; its acidity is moderate, and the emphasis is on stone fruit, fullness and smoothness. The alcohol level is high for a white wine, giving a warmth to the finish. This is not a wallflower wine! 14.5% alcohol.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This wine is wonderful to enjoy without food given its lovely fruity nature. Guigal suggests trying this Viognier as an aperitif, or with foie gras, scrambled eggs and truffles, which sounds deliciously decadent to us! Nicely chilled you could also pair with a more delicate fish dish. For something sweeter, match with a traditional almond galette accompanied by some vanilla ice cream.

ABOUT: The name Guigal is synonymous with great Rhone wines. The Guigal family HQ is in Ampuis, just south of Lyon, in the northern section of the Rhone Valley. They make a range of wines including excellent Cotes du Rhone up to the lofty heights of Condrieu and its red wine counterpart Cote Rotie.
