Tasting Note

This release is 100% Pinot Noir and you instantly notice how elegant, restrained and fresh it is, despite coming from such a hot year. It certainly has a softness too balanced by a pure line of natural acidity that gives it a mouthwatering character now and the potential for long term ageing. It has that lovely blackcurrant character that was present on the 2015 and the increased the barrel fermentation element to just under half the blend gives it a lovely texture and weight.

Over half a million years, their part of the Chiltern Hills has been shaped by the retreating Thames, leaving behind an environment ideal for creating world-class sparkling wine. Alas, the same flint rocks that make their single vineyard estate a dream for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, also make it a nightmare to work and cultivate – as two broken harrows testify. But then nothing worth treasuring ever came easy.

Grown, picked and expertly blended by the same team on the same site, each glass of Harrow & Hope is a tribute to traditional method viticulture and winemaking, to the unique characteristics of Marlow and to the spirit of adventure.
