Sans While most Indian rum is based on molasses or ‘jaggeryâ€?(a hybrid of cane sugar and other sweeteners), Camikara is India’s first cane juice rum made using locally grown sugar cane. The Sanskrit name translates to “liquid goldâ€? Buttery, off-dry aromas of light honey and distant menthol are echoed on the palate where the sugars gravitate towards Madeira cake, countered by light tannins. The finish reveals mere hints of cinnamon chocolate, semi-ripe pineapple and light vanilla. Not complex, but obviously matured with sensitivity, place this somewhere in between an aged Cuban and Guatemalan in style â€?medium weight, elegant and not overly sweet.
