The 2020 Jules Harrison Pinot Noir is a small-production wine sourced from the cool, coastal vineyards of Santa Barbara County, California—a region widely regarded for its ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir. Santa Barbara’s marine-influenced climate allows for slow, even ripening, preserving the grape’s delicate aromatics and acidity. Pinot Noir, a notoriously finicky varietal, thrives here thanks to the county’s morning fog, sunny afternoons, and diverse soils. Winemaker Joe Davis, the talent behind Jules Harrison, crafts this wine in a restrained, elegant style that blends the structure of Old World Burgundy with the vibrancy of California fruit.

In the glass, the 2020 vintage opens with lifted aromas of dried cherry, rose petal, lavender, and subtle notes of Darjeeling tea. The palate reveals layers of crushed raspberry, hibiscus, clove, and a touch of forest floor and herbal spice, carried on a silky texture with refined tannins. A whisper of oak and smoke adds complexity, leading to a long, graceful finish. This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, or a simple charcuterie board.
