Jamie Kutch is one of America’s foremost producers of Pinot Noir, and this wine is an excellent insight into why his reds have achieved such widespread acclaim. Showcasing everything that makes cool-climate California Pinot so special, its etheral red fruits flavours are delightfully balanced by touches of earth and spice rounded off by a saline minerality. No ordinary ‘appellationâ€?wine, Jamie uses a careful barrel selection of his single vineyard Sonoma Coast wines (Falstaff, Bohan and McDougall) in the blend, making this a truly exceptional introduction the the range and great value to boot.
91/100 Composed of press fractions from the various sites that Jamie Kutch works with, the 2023 Pinot Noir leads with a lovely nose of red and purple fruits, supplemented by floral notes that intensify with aeration. Supple and dynamic in the mouth, it finishes with an elegantly structured, nuanced finish that is equal parts savory and saline. Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate
16.5/20 Bright, transparent blueish garnet. Pretty nose and very understated, fresh and well-balanced, fruity palate. A delightfully pretty drink already. Could easily be enjoyed without food. Jancis Robinson MW
92/100 â€?An easy Pinot with all the coastal elements of juicy berries, citrusy lift, minerality, and coolness. The palate offers a bit more depth, with notes of blueberries and tart plum skins, a hint of spice, and a refreshing minty quality. There’s a gentle grip on the finish, likely from the 50% whole cluster, but thanks to very light foot-treading, it stays very approachable. â€?Ana Carolina Quintela, Decanter
