Founded in 1760, Champagne Lanson is one of the oldest producers in the region, with a rich history embedded in the famous city of Reims. The red cross in the logo comes from, Nicolas-Louis Delamotte who in 1798 took over from his father and as a knight of the Order of Malta, decided to use the Maltese Cross as the House’s emblem. Developing steadily and winning numerous awards over the years, they gained real prominence in the 1900s, becoming official supplier to the British court. Lanson has changed ownership many times in the last 50 years, the most significant change in 1990 when it was bought by LVMH who re-sold a few months later in 1991, keeping 210 hectares of vineyards, at the time considered the best vineyard holdings of all the large Maison. In 2006 Lanson became part of what is now the Lanson BCC Group. Today Lanson sources grapes from over 500 hectares across 60 villages.rrLanson’s prestige cuvée is produced from a careful selection of grapes from Grand Cru rated vineyards only. The very essence of the Lanson style, Noble embodies all the fruity, grape-flavour freshness so characteristic of the House.rrWeather: The 2004 vintage saw an initial winter of mild temperatures with intermittent storms and hail. The spring and summer months were hot and sunny and the sugar levels late in September produced good quality fruits. A huge harvest in general for the region. Overall many experts believe that 2004 is one of the greatest vintages of the last two decades.rrTechnical Information:rVineyards: 100% Grand Cru from Côte des Blancs villages of Avize, Cramant, Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger & ChouillyrGrape Varieties: 100% ChardonnayrLees ageing: 16 yearsrDisgorged: 21st September 2021rDosage: 6 g/lrProduction: 14,017 BottlesrDrink: Now to 2030rrChampagne in clear bottles must be stored in complete darkness, it spoils quickly if exposed to any light source.Read MorerrTasting Note: This blend of Chardonnay, exclusively from the Côte des Blancs grands crus of Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Chouilly, has a developed toffee and vanilla-laden nose of white fruit. There is some acacia and hazelnut complexity. The palate is light but rather sweet, showing a more youthful face than the nose. There is a lovely, playful, dancing lightness to it, but aroma-wise it could have been released earlier to maximise on the fruity deliciousness. The palate is really super delicious in its creamy lightness. â€?Tasted by Essi Avellan MW
