Les Blancs Manteaux is a plot planted with Cabernet Franc on an east-south-east facing slope, on Upper Turonian “Tuffeauâ€?limestone, a terroir with great ageing potential. Harvested by hand, then vatted by gravity, the berries are infused slowly and gently, without any brutal extraction, to reveal all the aromatic complexity of this great terroir. The wine is matured for 12 months in 500-litre oak barrels on the lees, to open up the wine without leaving any woody aromas. On tasting, a pure, delicate bouquet of blackcurrants, blackberries, violets and spices exalts the senses. This is followed by a full-bodied palate, characterised by velvety tannins, fine acidity and a lively mid-palate, ending with a long, penetrating and delicately saline finish, underlined by exquisite touches of liquorice.
