The House of Louis Jadot has been producing exceptional Burgundy wines since its founding in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. For the past 150 years Louis Jadot has continued as one of the great names of Burgundy and has gained international reputation for its superb red and white Burgundy wines. Louis Jadot is not only one of the largest producers of estate Burgundies of the Cote d’Or, it is one of the most celebrated exporters of premium Burgundies, owning close to 140 acres of vineyards from 24 of the most prestigious sites in Burgundy.rrThe commune of Savigny-lès-Beaune is in the north of the Côte de Beaune and produces 90% red wines. Les Grèves is located in the middle of the commune on gravely, stony chalk soil. It faces south–southeast at 220 meters to 360 meters in altitude. The wine is matured for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels before bottling.rrVineyard: Les Grèves is situated in the North between Les Toussaints, Les Bressandes and Les Theurons. In French,Grèves means sandy, small stones, which describes the soil of these vineyards. It is the largest Beaune Premier Cru vineyard.rrWeather in 2020: Winter 2019-20 was mild and dry, especially in February. However, rainfall in late 2019 helped replenish soil water reserves. Mild weather continued into March, with early vegetative growth observed. Cooler early April slowed growth, but temperatures rose again later that month, aiding the plants in synthesizing high levels of organic acids. May brought rain, supporting vine growth and full flowering occurred by late May and early June, despite dry conditions. By the mid-flowering stage, growth was about three weeks ahead of the previous year. Summer began with veraison in July, followed by several heatwaves. By the end of July, ripening accelerated, especially for Pinot Noir. Harvesting began on 19 August, with the red yields similar to 2019 and whites slightly higher.rrTechnical Information: rGrape Varieties: 100% ChardonnayrRegion: Côte de BeaunerVineyard: Les GrèvesrDrink: Now to 2030rrTasting Note: The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Le Clos Blanc (Domaine Gagey) is another success this year, bursting with aromas of fresh pear, green apple, crushed mint, buttery pastry and almonds. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, it’s lively and precise, with chalky structure and a saline finish. â€?Tasting note by William Kelley
