The House of Louis Jadot has been producing exceptional Burgundy wines since its founding in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. For the past 150 years Louis Jadot has continued as one of the great names of Burgundy and has gained international reputation for its superb red and white Burgundy wines. Louis Jadot is not only one of the largest producers of estate Burgundies of the Cote d’Or, it is one of the most celebrated exporters of premium Burgundies, owning close to 140 acres of vineyards from 24 of the most prestigious sites in Burgundy.rrLocation: Puligny-Montrachet, situated to the south of Meursault and to the north of Chassagne Montrachet, shares with Chassagne a handful of the greatest white wine vineyards in the world. The Premier Cru vineyards of Puligny Montrachet, noted for the exceptionally high and consistent quality of the wines they produce, stretch across the upper half of Puligny’s slope from Meursault to Chassagne. rrVineyard: The Folatières climate lies near the summit of this slope, above Clos de la Garenne roughly midway between Meursault and Montrachet. The clay and chalk soil, which is very stony, drains well and warms through easily. This wine is vinified and then aged in wooden barrels for 12-15 months before bottling.rrVinification and Maturation: Grapes are harvested by hand and put in small cases in order not to damage the fruits. Grapes are pressed softly, they ferment in oak barrels produced by our cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. Aging usually lasts 15 months on fine lies before bottling. rrWeather: 2012 vintage was born of a troubled growing season characterised by constrasting and unusual weather patterns. Winegrowers always have to keep a close eye on their vines, poised to treat when necessary. In 2012 they had to be guardian angels, ready at every moment to fight the fungal diseases, to defeat them and save the crop. Mother nature also stepped in to save the grapes from rot and the grapes that came into the wineries were of astonishing quality. Although the half of the crop was destroyed by hail, the quality was good and the red wines were a great success.rrTechnical Information: rRegion: BurgundyrSub Region: Puligny-MontrachetrVineyard: FolatièresrGrape Varities: 100% ChardonnayrDrink: Now to 2030rrTasting Note: The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres comes from vines on the upper reaches of the climat, just 50-meters from Chevalier-Montrachet. It has a very refined bouquet with subtle mineral scents, smoke and some pressed flowers. The palate is well-balanced with a fine line of acidity that neatly counterbalances the rounded, rich, lightly honeyed fruit, leaving the finish voluminous and satisfying. Excellent. â€?Tasting note from Robertparker.com
