Sans Served on all first-class flights of ANA (All Nippon Airways), Manzairaku Kaga’s mild aroma and intense umami taste have won it several awards. It’s a lightly carbonated Umeshu with a low 7% alcohol, ideal as an aperitif or even during a meal. Although generally referred to as Plum Wine, the Ume fruit is closer to an apricot than what we know of as plums and possesses a substantially higher acidity which renders the ripe fruit (though edible) mostly unpalatable. Benisashi Ume is used here, a variety that grows exclusively in Kanazawa City (Ishikawa Prefecture) and in the neighbouring Fukui Prefecture.
