The Marsannay ‘Le Closâ€?Monopole has a clearly defined identity: a beautiful viscosity that envelops the palate, strong minerality that structures the mouthfeel, and a long, mouth-watering finish. Deep and subtle aromas with notes of pepper, acacia, pear, peach, curry, and truffles.

‘Le Closâ€?is a monopole of 3 hectares south of the appellation Marsannay, in the village of Couchey, behind the Château. This slightly sloping, east-facing plot, the perfect terroir for white wines, is mainly composed of marl, with some more stony areas.
The grapes from these 40-year-old vines are harvested over several days, depending on their ripeness, and on their location in Le Clos. The grapes are then sorted and the cuvée will take only the best grapes from the oldest vines. The marly subsoil brings power to the wine, and harvesting on different dates gives additional complexity.
The grapes are pressed for 4 hours to delicately extract the must. The cuvée is kept in 600-litre barrels during the two fermentation processes (alcoholic and malolactic). The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels, with another 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
It is one of the few terroirs devoted to white wines in the Côte de Nuits that can equal the quality of the best villages in the Côte de Beaune, producing wines with an ageing potential of 10 years or more.
The EstateThe family-run Domaine René Bouvier owns 30 hectares of vines, all in the Côte de Nuits. The estate, located in Gevrey-Chambertin, has been managed by Bernard Bouvier since 1992.The winery produces a range of 26 different wines, ranging from the Bourgogne appellation to the most famous Grand Cru wines: Charmes-Chambertin and Echezeaux. The grapes are entirely harvested by hand, with 23 hectares producing red wines and 7 hectares producing white wines, including Marsannay Le Clos, a monopole (a vineyard owned by only one winegrower). The estate vineyards extend from the ancient terroirs of the Dukes of Burgundy, near Dijon, to the well-known wine-producing village of Vosne-Romanée. Most of the climats are located in the appellations Marsannay, Fixin, and Gevrey-Chambertin.
