Tasting Notes:Messias 50 years old is a Tawny Port wine is a mellow, rich, subtle Port wine. It stands out for its remarkable balance of honeyed notes of citrus jam, marmalade and very delicate acidity with floral hints, highlighting notes of orange blossom and caramelized orange peel.

Serving & Food Pairing Tawny Ports are ready-to drink and do not require decanting. Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 12-13ºC they will work wonders if pairing with treacle tart, crème brulee or nut based desserts, like hazelnut praline.

Messias was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973. The management is still held by the descendants of the Messias family. Since its foundation, the company has been producing and selling high quality wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Vinho do Porto. Messias is based in Mealhada, a small city in central Portugal, in the heart of Bairrada region. Here the company has approximately 160 hectares of vineyards. It is one of the few groups which produces and sells a complete range of wines and spirits from the finest Portuguese regions as well as its own estates.
