A tribute to the man who is inextricably linked to the Midleton Distillery

This whiskey offers an immediate elegance on the nose, where toasted oak and creamy vanilla are intertwined with a surprising lift of lime, fresh pear, green berries, and the suggestion of sweet green pepper. The first sip introduces a light, lively spice that soon gives way to a rush of fresh citrus, highlighting zesty lime and the richness of mandarin. The influence of American oak is apparent in the gentle warmth of cinnamon, vanilla, and deep wood spice. The full spectrum of flavours holds its own through a lengthy finish, slowly receding to leave a pristine impression of clean oak.

Cellaring: Once opened, Whiskey is best to consume within six months to two years. Food Pairing: Good soda bread (or sourdough) and farmhouse butter, mature cheddars, smoked cheeses, smoked cured meat. Fresh seafood, particularly fatty fish such as salmon or monkfish with whiskey cream sauces, BBQ duck, ribs and pulled pork | ?️ Serve at room temperature, around 18-23 °C

STORY BEHIND THE WHISKEY

Master Distiller Emeritus Barry Crockett possesses a truly unique distinction: he was not only born into his profession but also literally born at his workplace – the Midleton Distillery’s Distiller’s Cottage. This incredible starting point began an almost 50-year immersion in the art of whiskey distilling. Following in the footsteps of his father, Midleton Master Distiller Max Crockett, Barry learned the craft first-hand before succeeding him as Master Distiller in 1981.

From 20th September 2023, Midleton Very Rare Barry Crockett Legacy will be presented in new luxury sustainable packaging, replacing the wooden cabinet used since 2011, honouring the heritage of the past while striving for the future
