Ontanon GranReserva Rioja from Spain has deep, dark fruit flavours combined with ample acidity, minerality and earthy notes. It has a fine structure and natural grape tannins to give good length and weight.

Beautifully developed Rioja with aromas of dark fruit, spice, tobacco and mocha. The palate shows complexity and structure with layers of black fruit, spice and toasty oak. The finish is long and persistent, with the purity and brightness of fruit conveying real elegance in this Gran Reserva Rioja from Ontanon. After fermentation the wine spends 36 months in a mixture of American and French oak, and 24 months in bottle prior to release.

Raquel, Ruben, Leticia and Maria Pérez Cuevas are part of the 5th generation of the Cuevas family to make wine in Rioja Baja. Their father, Gabriel, inherited parcels of vineyards just outside the town of Quel on the higher slopes of the Sierra de Yerga mountain range. He was determined to produce wine that embodied the region, where he believed some of the highest quality wines from Rioja are made, and soon acquired more vineyard in the area creating the Ontanon estate of today.
