Flight of the Drongo 2020 is a light and lively expression of South African Grenache. It’s pale in colour, almost ethereal, with flinty and smoky aromas that give it a distinctive edge. On the palate, there’s a slight spritz – a refreshing touch for some, though it can be smoothed out by decanting. Fresh, zesty, and unique, this wine dances lightly across the tongue, embodying the free-spirited nature of its namesake bird.

This light red pairs well with charcuterie and cheeses like camembert and mozarella.

Their “For the Birds” range is all about celebrating biodiversity, with organic farming practices and a nod to the wildlife that shares the vineyard. Flight of the Drongo is a collaboration between farmer David Retief and natural winemaking legend Craig Hawkins, creating a wine that’s as distinctive and free-spirited as the Fork-tailed Drongo bird it’s named after.
