PERCHERON is a contemporary range of wines that celebrate traditional South Africa varietals and the reintroduction of the Percheron horse back into vineyard work (Percheron is a breed of French heavy horse traditionally used when many of these prized old plots were first established – it is enjoying a resurgence in South Africa as their hooves are kinder to the soil). The existence of this range has been heavily influenced by winemaker Marinda Kruger-van Eck’s passion and love of old grape varieties – Marinda has persuaded growers to nurture old cultivars, often destined for destruction, back to health to produce the very best fruit for these wines. Only traditional winemaking techniques are used to allow the purest expression of the old vine fruit to shine through.
