On the clay-limestone slopes of Solutré, in the heart of the Mâconnais region, Château de la Greffière has created a superb expression of Chardonnay with this “Signature” cuvée. This luminous terroir, caressed by southerly winds, produces a wine that is both generous and straightforward, reflecting four generations of family expertise. The 2023 vintage, with its great aromatic purity, combines vibrant fruit and remarkable natural tension. Vinified and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, on fine lees without bâtonnage, this Pouilly-Fuissé combines the richness of the terroir with the precision of the winemaker’s hand. The intense yellow-gold colour precedes a seductive nose combining white-fleshed fruits (peach, pear), delicate honey and subtle woody notes. On the palate, the texture is full and caressing, balanced by a fine minerality that is the hallmark of the great wines of the Mâconnais. It is a delicious, luminous white wine with beautiful tension and a salty, persistent finish.
