Réserve de la Comtesse is the second wine of Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande, the prestigious Second Growth of Bordeaux’s Pauillac appellation. 2015 was an excellent vintage in Bordeaux, so second wines offer a great opportunity to try top-end Bordeaux without having to purchase an estate’s very top wine. Réserve de la Comtesse 2015 is opulent and rich, with powerful blackberry and cassis fruit flavours to the fore, framed by silky, but slightly drying tannins. The eternal finish offers a hint of wood smoke, sweet spice and a refreshing herbal complexity.
