This 100% Riesling cuvée is mineral and invigorating. The nose is marked by notes of stone fruit mixed with aromas of honey, flowers and pear. The grapes are matured for 12 months in 1000 to 3000 litre oak barrels, on the lees, without stirring, giving this wine amplitude and length. On tasting, the Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese 2023 reveals ripe, intense fruit mixed with saline notes of crushed rock and hints of mocha. Round and elegant on the palate, with lush fruit and structured by remarkably fine, crystalline, saline acidity, this is a medium-bodied Spätlese, still soft but elegant and balanced, with a salivating finish.
