STORY BEHIND THE WINE

The name “Sassicaia“- meaning “place of many stones”- is a direct reference to the gravelly soil in Bolgheri that is notably similar to the Médoc area of France. This distinctive terroir is part of the legacy of Tenuta San Guido, an estate that traces its origins back to land owned by Mario Incisa della Rocchetta’s wife’s family since 1800. His vision and dedication ultimately propelled the wine to international fine-wine fame.
