Sans Usami’s oldest blend takes on aromas reminiscent of a sherried Speysider: raisins, prunes, dried apricots and whiffs of dark chocolate lead into a soft entry, developing dried fruit sweetness and gingery warmth. Suggestions of fruit cake, tea biscuits and dates enter at the finish. It’s fairly understated as far as sherried styles go, but it’s expertly balanced. The aftertaste is gently spicy and medium long. Nicely done. 48% Alc./Vol.
