Originally known as Forest-Fourneaux with history dating back to 1734 and in 1932 Pierre Taittinger bought the House and the Taittinger label was born. A century of incredible growth saw Taittinger become one of the biggest producers and today is one of the last big independent, family-owned Houses. Pierre-Emmanuel retired in 2019 and was succeeded as President by his daughter Vitalie. They own 288-hectares of vineyards and the Taittinger style is the high percentage of Chardonnay. In 2017 Taittinger received two environmental accreditations: the ‘Viticulture Durable en Champagneâ€?(Sustainable vine-growing in Champagne) and the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE â€?High environmental sustainability.)rrProduced each year from 95% first pressing of the grapes, this is the definitive cuvée of Champagne Taittinger. Each year the blend includes a proportion of reserve wine to ensure consistency in the House style.Prior to release, Taittinger Brut Réserve NV is aged for 3-4 years giving the wine depth whilst allowing the component parts to become fully integrated.rrTechnical Information:rVineyards: 100% Grand & Premier Cru | 50% Taittinger Estate | Over 35 CrusrGrape Varieties: 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir & 25% MeunierrLees Ageing: 3-4 yearsrReserve wines: 30%rDisgorged: Spring 2022rDosage: 9 g/lrAlcohol: 12.5%rDrink: Now for 5+ yearsrrTasting Note: Renowned for its golden colour with a consistent and fine lingering mousse. The nose is light and delicate with hints of peach and brioche. On the palate it has considerable depth, yet is quite light in style with a subtle elegance and a long fresh finish.
