The Octavius cuvée comes from some of the oldest vines in the Barossa and Eden Valley, one of which dates back to 1854. Ancient vines, pure expressive fruit and imaginative winemaking combine here with one of the world’s oldest geologies and the pristine environment of the Barossa.The 2020 season was hot and low-yielding, yet the wine displays real finesse and lightness in the glass. The nose reveals sumptuous aromas of blackberries, red currants, cedar, red apple skin, citrus peel and dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied, generous and powerful, with fine tannins leading to a full, fruity and flavourful finish. The finish leaves a note of clove and aniseed, and the length of the flavours and persistence of the tannins are worth noting.
