To start with, it is a red wine coming from a predominantly white wine region (Vinho Verde), and it is also much lighter and juicer than the majority of heavy, oaked Portuguese reds that fill the UK market. “Bright fruited, a touch darker with (attractive) coal dust tannins, a touch of spice with a bit of spritz for lift. If this came from the Rhone Valley or a fashionable Austrian maker it would probably cost quite a lot more.
