Sans The Watts distillery dates back to 1762 and had a proud tradition of producing good whiskies. Tyrconnell(named after asuccessful racehorse owned by the Watt family) was their flagship product and a best seller in the United States before Prohibition. Today, this historicbrand has been kept alive by The Cooley Distillery who have received reassuring acclaim for their efforts. The reputation of Tyrconnell continues to grow and amongst other accolades, the malt was the proud winner of a Gold Medal in the Single Malt Category at the 2004 International Wine & Spirits Awards in London.
