Thanks to rigorous vineyard management – green harvesting at the end of July and controlled yields – DomaineJacques Prieurhas captured the quintessence of this exceptional climate. The vineyard, ideally located in the heart of Santenots du Milieu on manganese-rich soil, benefits from perfect natural drainage and full eastern exposure, ensuring optimal ripeness of the grapes. The meticulous work continues in the cellar: manual harvesting, total destemming, long vatting in wooden vats and 18 months’ ageing in oak barrels bring complexity and structure to this great wine. On tasting, the intense ruby colour heralds the richness of the vintage. The nose immediately seduces with intense aromas of black cherry, liquorice, blond tobacco and cocoa. On the palate, the texture is dense, the tannins are fine and velvety, and the whole stretches out into a spicy and racy finish.
