Marcel Gisclard was one of the first winemakers in France to visit Georgia (The world’s first to use Amphora) and understand their methods of winemaking and ageing. He produced this Languedoc Orange (skin contact) wine using his favourite grape variety, the rare Carignan blanc, and to say it was a success is a woeful understatement. The colour is somewhere between orange wine and rosé. The aromas are fine and complex with marinated raisin with rum, dried banana, and a very slight resinous touch. It keeps evolving with aeration. The palate is well structured, airy with ripe, rich matter, followed by a wave of freshness that prevents it from falling into heaviness. The balance is really close to perfection. The finish is powerful without being aggressive, tasty at the limit of the jubilatory â€?lingering long on dried apricot aromas mixed with quince and resin.
